How Fast Can Your Power Bank Charge?

Portable chargers are meant to serve as an emergency power source during those occasions when a person is in mobile or in a place where electricity is not available. This very purpose is the reason why this gadget is becoming more and more popular. In fact, next to mobile phones, power banks have become the top most priority gadget that a person should have.

However, most people do not really understand how it works, especially the basics of this gadget’s charging rate. In the same way that power banks come in various battery sizes, they also have different charging capacity which dictates how fast they can charge other devices and how fast they can be charged.

This means that the efficiency of a power bank’s performance does not rely alone on how much power it can give. It can also be attributed to its charging speed. Thus, aside from checking on the power bank’s power capacity, it would also be wise to check on a power bank’s current charges.

Current charges are measured per ampere (A) which is an electricity unit. Power bank batteries, on the other hand, are measured according to Milliamp Hour (mAh). In comparison, one mAh will be equivalent to .001A-hours.

The output current charge indicates how fast a portable charger can charge a certain device. The lowest output current charge is pegged at 1A while there are some power banks that has 2.1A to 2.4A. Of course, the higher the value of the current charge is, the faster the rate of charging will be. 1A current charge is recommended for mobile phones while devices with higher power capacity such as tablets needs at least around 2.0A.

The input current charge, on the other hand, determines the rate at which the power bank is charged. Most power banks come with 1A input current charge. This means that a power bank with a 5000mAh would need around 6.25 hours to be fully charged. Of course, the higher the power bank’s battery capacity, the longer its charging hours would be.

Generally, new portable chargers or those that are maintained very well will be able to perform at the fullest in comparison to older and badly handled mobile chargers. This means that how power banks are handled will definitely affect its charging capacity.

Thus, if you are planning to give customized promo products, it would be wise to choose power banks that complement your power needs and the devices you have. Given this, choosing power bank promotional products should not be based on design alone but as well as their specifications.
